City of Lethbridge
Phillips, Barratt, Hillier, Jones and Partners
This was the first project that the City of Lethbridge built using construction management services. An emphasis was placed on local hiring and training, and the work was done by Wesbridge Construction Limited and Gillett Construction. The Sportsplex was built on budget and ahead of schedule for the opening of the Canada Winter Games. The building is comprised of 148,944 square feet and is a premier recreational facility. It consists of an ice arena with two levels of spectator seating, food concessions, four racquet ball and squash courts, junior hockey and city offices, dressing rooms, meeting rooms and change areas. It also had an outdoor speed skating oval constructed by Wesbridge Construction. This building also contains private box suites and media boxes constructed by Wesbridge Construction in 1996-97.
